DAY 01 : BENGALURU – COLOMBO – NEGOMBO
All passengers assemble at Bangalore International Airport with ORIGINAL PASSPORTS, TICKET and VISA Copy. Board the flight to Colombo. On arrival at Colombo, you will meet our representative and transferred to Negombo. Overnight at Negombo.
DAY 02 : NEGOMBO – TRICOMALEE
After breakfast, proceed to Dambulla, en-route visit Munneswaram Temple, Chilaw. Munneswaram Temple, Chilaw. It is believed that Munneswaram predates the Ramayana and a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was located here. Munneswaram means the first temple for Shiva (Munnu + Easwaran). A Shiva Lingam was already here when Lord Rama visited this place. Lord Rama after his victorious battle left for Ayodhya with Sita in one of King Ravana’s Vimanas. He felt he was being followed by a Bramhaasthi Dosham (a malevolent black shadow) as he had killed King Ravana who was a Brahmin. Thereafter proceed to Manavari Temple. When the Vimana was passing over Muneeswaram, Lord Rama felt the Vimana vibrating, and realized the Brahmaasti Dosham was not following him at this particular point. He stopped the Vimana at this juncture and asked Lord Shiva for advice. Lord Shiva blessed Lord Rama and advised installing and praying at four lingams located at Manavari, Thiru Koneshwaram, Thiru Ketheshwaram and Rameshwaram in India as the only remedy to get rid of the dosham. The first lingam was installed at Manavari, near the banks of the River Deduru Oya. At the Manavari Temple Chilaw Manavari is the first lingam installed and prayed by Rama and till date this lingam is called as Ramalinga Shivan. Rameshwaram is the only other lingam in world named after Lord Rama. Post lunch at Dambulla, proceed towards Trincomalee. Shankari Devi Temple is situated in an east coast town of Srilanka, Trincomalee. Shakti Peeta shloka starts with Lankayam Shankari Devi composed by Sri Jagadguru Aadi Shankaracharya. This temple is a prominent temple for Hindus. But, it is most rarely visited and it is very least popular in all AstaDasha Shakti Peethas. Along with the temple of Shankari Devi, there is a temple of Lord Shiva – TRIKONESHWARA Temple. Overnight at Trincomalee.
DAY 03 : TRICOMALEE – KANDY
Breakfast at the hotel, thereafter proceed to Kandy. Commence city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Kandy - the hill capital. Venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815.Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditionsare everywhere. Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’s hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout theBuddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession. In the evening, witness a cultural show. Overnight at Kandy.
DAY 04 : KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, En-route visit the Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, Ramboda It is believed that Lord Hanuman was searching for Sitadevi from these hills of Ramboda. Built by Chinmaya mission, the beautiful Bhakta Hanuman Temple is located on the way to Nuwara, with Lord Hanuman as the presiding deity on this hill. On every full moon day special poojas are conducted and witnessed by thousands of devotees. The statue of Lord Hanuman here is carved out of granite and is 16 feet in height.Check in at the hotel. Evening, visit the Gayathri Peetam in NuwaraEliya. It is believed to be the place from where King Ravana’s son Meghanath propitiated Lord Shiva with penance andpooja’s and in turn was granted super natural powers by lord Shiva. Return to hotel. Overnight at Nuwara Eliya
DAY 05 : NUWARA ELIYA – COLOMBO
After breakfast, proceed to Seetha Amman Temple, Seetha Eliya.The stream that runs from the hill, catered to the needs of Sitadevi during her stay at Ashoka Vatika. She is said to have bathed in this stream. Now there is a temple erected for Lord Rama, Sitadevi, Luxshmana and Hanuman by the side of this stream. It is interesting to note that foot prints akin to Lord Hanuman are found by this river. Thereafter proceed to Divurumpola situated in Nuwara Eliya Welimada road. Divurumpola Divurumpola means a place where one takes an oath. Sitadevi, after being liberated from King Ravana was subjected to a test to prove her chastity by offering herself to the fire. She came unscathed and proved her holiness at this place.Thereafter proceed to Colombo. In the evening visit Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple. Halt at Colombo.
DAY 06 : COLOMBO – BENGALURU
After breakfast at the hotel, commence half-day city tour of Colombo. A drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmith's quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. After lunch, transfer to the airport for the flight back home.
